Man slits wife’s throat over money

Dehradun: A 30-year-old man slit his 28-year-old wife’s throat over money in Dehradun’s Friends Enclave locality on Saturday.
Police said that the 6-year-old daughter of the couple informed her grandparents about the incident.
Pradeep Chauhan, SHO of Nehru colony police station, said the couple, who also has a 10-month-old son, had an argument after the victim, Swati, asked Saurabh, who goes by his first name, for money.
An FIR is yet to be lodged against the accused, who is at large, as the woman’s parents were busy performing the last rites, Chauhan said.
He added that Saurabh had borrowed Rs 5 lakh for his sister’s wedding. When his wife asked him to give her some money, he refused. A heated exchange ensued and he killed her in a fit of rage.
Saurabh, who worked in a government office canteen in Dehradun, lost his job during the lockdown.
He took up odd jobs to run the house. The couple had been living in the rented apartment for over a year.
